Ludmila "Luda" Karasik A visionary with some 30 years experience in the beauty world, Ludmila "Luda" Karasik is finally realizing her life's dream to "bring Manhattan style and quality to New Jersey." A native of Minsk, Belarus, and a long-time resident of Bergen County, Karasik has trained a strong team of experts to take pampering to a whole new level at Salon Luba. An unrelenting passion for hairstyling and color since she was 17 led Karasik to the prestigious Kiev hair dressing school, followed by invitations to hair shows in Berlin, training in Moscow and a master class in London with Toni Mascolo, who taught her to perfect Sassoon-style razor cuts. In the early 1980s, Luda settled in New Jersey with her family, and after a stint at the Carlyle Hotel salon in New York City, began developing her impressive client roster in the Englewood and Alpine area. "My astrological sign is Cancer. I have a strong personality. I am a leader," she says. "My clients feel comfortable and relaxed with me. If you listen to people and you deliver, they leave very happy and they come back. I love people. I love to learn. Billy Karasik Entrepreneur Billy Karasik, eldest child of Salon Luba founder Ludmila "Luda" Karasik, has realized his mother's career goal of opening her own high-end salon. A veteran of the hospitality industry, Karasik has launched many successful entertainment ventures including Red Wine With Fish Gourmet Kitchens, a gourmet dinner delivery and full-service event planning company in Manhattan, and the exclusive SoHo nightclub Green Room. He has also collaborated on other nightclub projects in New York City and Las Vegas and on several exclusive celebrity deals with Capitale's Seth Greenberg. Now he has combined his extensive hospitality knowledge with Luda's 30 years of experience in the beauty world to deliver a unique concept that combines the indulgent salon experience with the distinctive touches of an upscale restaurant or lounge.
